On a cold Feburary day in the middle of the 1967 snow storm in Manhatten NY, Cedric and Phyllis Shearer welcomed to the world thier second child, a baby girl, who they named Nancy Murray Shearer.
We (Cedric, Phyllis, Ben & Nancy) lived in Manhatten for the next 6 years, when in 1973 we moved to Evanston, IL and Cedric got a seat on the Chicago Board Options Exchange.
Over the years our family, both together and apart, lived in various homes all over the North Shore.....from Wilmette to Glenview and even a fun little apartment in Rogers Park a block from Howard Street.
Cedric and Phyllis' marriage ended in 1979. Cedric now lives in a small one bedroom apartment on Sheridan Road in Rogers Park. In 1999 he suffered a very serious head injury. We thought we might loose him - however we were granted an incredible miracle - he survived the accident and after several months of recovery and rehab - now works and lives independently.
In 1999 only 6 weeks after my father's accident I got married to the most wonderful man named Courtney Wendt. In 2001 we had a son named Nathaniel (who now prefers to be called Nate) and in 2003 we had another son who we named Noah.
In March of 2007 Courtney and I bought a home in Johnsburg IL. Our home has an In-Law Apartment on the fourth floor so we asked my mother Phyllis to live with us, in that apartment.
This past Christmas we had the whole family together, my father Cedric, my mother Phyllis, my older brother Ben, and his wife Lisa, and of course my husband Courtney and boys Nate and Noah. (oh wait....and Ronin the dog!) From the time we woke to open presents at 7am to the time we went to bed, every minute was blessed and filled with JOY!
I thank God every day for my blessed life and incredible family.
